A New Beginning: The Story Behind The Edge of South
For years, the idea of starting something like The Edge of South lived quietly in the back of my mind. I’ve always loved the way home can be a canvas — a space for style, creativity, gathering, and memory-making. But I didn’t have the confidence to act on that dream. I had already gone to school, built a career in healthcare, gotten married, started a family — all the “right” things. Starting over? That didn’t feel like part of the plan.
But this year, on my birthday, something shifted. It wasn’t dramatic — more of a quiet realization. A now-or-never kind of feeling. That little voice that had been nudging me for years suddenly felt louder. So I decided to listen. I decided to take a leap of faith and create something that truly excites me — a brand that reflects how I see and experience life at home. I launched this space as an act of reimagining — for my home, my creativity, and my next chapter.
Launching The Edge of South is definitely a shift. It's pulled me far outside my comfort zone. I’m the type of person who loves a plan — someone who wants to know how things will turn out before diving in. But I reached a point where I knew I needed to do something I was passionate about, even if it came without a roadmap. For me, this brand is more than a creative outlet — it’s the foundation for something bigger. Something that begins with intention and ends with celebration. A space that honors the joy and beauty of life at home.
So what can you expect to find here? Curated inspiration for your home — from large pieces to the smallest styling details. Items that feel beautiful and accessible. I love the idea that a single new piece — a vase, a lamp, a tray — can shift the way a space feels or functions. And I want The Edge of South to be a trusted resource, whether you’re someone who studies design blogs or someone who just wants someone else to say “get this, and here’s how to use it.” One of the parts I’m most excited about is my This Week’s Finds series — a weekly roundup of thoughtful, stylish home pieces you can actually shop. My hope is that it becomes something people look forward to, something they return for week after week.
That said — none of this has come easy. Learning how to build a website from scratch, figuring out how Pinterest works, staying up late after long workdays — this has all taken time and energy I didn’t always know I had. There have been late nights, moments of frustration, do-overs, and lots of Googling. But it’s also been incredibly rewarding. Every time I look at my site and realize, “I built that,” I feel a spark. And that spark keeps me going. I truly believe this journey is leading somewhere meaningful. Even when it’s hard, I believe it’s all for something.
More than anything, I’m building this for my family. I want to create something lasting — a place that reminds us all that fear and excuses don’t have to have the final say. You’re capable of more than you think. My hope is that anyone who finds The Edge of South feels welcomed, inspired, and like they’ve found something worth returning to.
Whether you’ve come out of curiosity, for inspiration, or to discover something meaningful — I’m truly glad you’re here.
Welcome to The Edge of South.
